Banks in Albania are working with reduced hours as the authorities have introduced restrictive measures in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
As a result, more people are using the online banking option.
As many other sectors, the banks have announced that they will remain closed after the curfew starts, causing long queues in the first days when the restrictive measures came into force.
Since then, they are urging customers to use the digital banking, without having to go to the bank.
There has been an increase of 10% of customers and transactions through the ATMs. Online banking saw a 25% increase of users, while banks’ customer service hotlines, operating 24/7, had a tremendous increase of phone calls from customers seeking assistance.
Personally I have been using Raiffeisen Albania and Alpha Bank Albania respective apps during this period for online transactions and the ATMs. It helps tremendously reducing the time of waiting in queues. Especially with Raiffeisen Albania, where you can deposit cash in their ATMs.
