All flights to/from Tirana resume on June 22

All scheduled flights from and to Tirana International Airport (TIA) will resume on June 22, the Albanian authorities announced on Saturday.

Flights were halted in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Bearing in mind the European Commission’s statement on June 11, 2020, recommending, among other things, the removal of travel restrictions for Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, North Macedonia and Serbia, starting from July 1, 2020, and also the commitment of several Schengen area countries to have the same approach, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy announces that starting from June 22, 2020, regular international flights to different destinations will start, according to a schedule to be approved by the Civil Aviation Authority,” the ministry said in a press release.

The Schengen area however, where most of the flights from Tirana arrive, remains closed at least until July 1. Passengers should contact the airlines before traveling to the airport.
