The Albanian authorities have drafted a protocol to be implemented during the summer season in the time of coronavirus pandemic.

Businesses in the tourism industry will need to have an additional person in their staff, who will act as the anti Covid-19 coordinator, overseeing the hygiene measures for the staff, including disinfection of the premises. The latter will have to wear masks and gloves at all times.

Beach-goers will go thorough temperature checks and sign a form declaring if they have coronavirus symptoms, if they have contacted people infected with Covid-19 in the past 14 days, or if they have been in places affected by the pandemic.

Masks gloves and hand sanitizers should be available for tourists at all times.

On the beach, umbrellas should be positioned at least 4 m apart and they have to be placed 10 m away from the seashore. Bay watchers will also be tasked to monitor the distance between tourists.

In the swimming pool area, sun beds and parasols should be 2 m apart, while the distance of 3 m should be respected during swimming.

In the bars and restaurants, a table for four should be placed within the 10 m/sq area, and customers will have to stay 1 m apart. Self-service will not be allowed and customers will be attended by waiting staff, wearing masks and gloves.

Businesses have to print the new rules on a public space, in Albanian and in English.

The draft-protocol by the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Health has been sent to the business for consultation.
