Flights from Tirana to three European destinations, Vienna, Belgrade and Athens resumed on June 15, after three months of disruption due to Covid-19 pandemic, the country’s Tirana International Airport (TIA) announced.

Austrian Airlines operated the flight from Vienna arriving at 14.20 and departing at 15.05;

Air Serbia operated the flight from Belgrade arriving at 14.30 and departing at 15.00, and the Greek carrier Aegean Airline operated the flight from Athens arriving at 19.25 and departing from Tirana at 20.05.

TIA also announced the Air Albania’s repatriation flight from Frankfurt arriving in the Albanian capital at 18.15.

But Albanian nationals aren’t allowed to take any of the flights. According TIA, only residents of the European Union (Albanians living in the Union countries with work/residence permit) and EU nationals are allowed to travel to the destinations mentioned above. Schengen area border remains closed to non-EU citizens. Serbia isn’t in the EU, but apparently non-Serbian nationals aren’t allowed to enter the country.

Those who are able to travel have to undergo strict hygiene protocols, including mandatory wearing face masks.
