Ksamil beach in Albania

Ksamil on Tripadvisor’s list of most sought-after destinations for Brits

Tripadvisor has revealed the top 20 most sought-after summer holiday destinations for Britons this year – and it’s Bembridge on the Isle of Wight that tops the charts domestically and the beach town of Badesi on the northern coast of Sardinia that’s the No.1 trending foreign spot. But there is also a surprise destination: Ksamil.

In second place in the foreign list is the mountainous town of Hakone-machi, Japan, and in third is Ksamil, on the Albanian ‘riviera’.

Tripadvisor explains that this is a new entry for 2023 and ‘ideal for those looking for a bargain beach break’, adding: ‘Less famous than other European hotspots, Ksamil’s sandy white shore and crystal clear water gives better-known beach destinations a run for their money.’

Ksamil is one of the beautiful coastal towns along the Albanian Riviera. It’s home to some incredible beaches that look almost exactly like those in the south of France. Here, crystal clear waters back onto soft sandy shorelines dotted with colorful umbrellas. Ksamil makes summer paradise and is definitely a must-see on your Albania itinerary. Spend your time in Ksamil hopping around, discovering the town’s beautiful surrounding while bathing in the warm Mediterranean sun. It is a perfect beach-destination.

The rest of the foreign list consists of Shinjuku, Japan (fourth); Chuo, Japan (fifth); Cala Santandria, Menorca, Spain (sixth); Da Nang, Vietnam (seventh); Hoi An, Vietnam (eighth); Hong Kong (ninth); and Puerto Banus, Spain (10th).

The rankings are based on a combination of search and sentiment survey data and are part of Tripadvisor’s Seasonal Travel Index of 2023, which reveals various other insights into Brits’ travel plans this summer.

Two in five Brits (43 per cent) intend to travel more this summer than last, the Tripadvisor study also notes, with 79 per cent planning up to two holidays this year.
