The museums of Albania that you can visit online

At a time when we are self-isolated because of the coronavirus we try to find ways to spent the time, while staying at home.

Social networks are full of activities people are doing home, including cooking challenges, online classes, aerobics and yoga, binge-watching TV shows or movies or just working from home.

Another suggestion is to visit the museums of Albania, virtually.

VISIT ONLINE MUSEUMS

The Ministry of Culture has a dedicated web page that offers virtual tours of Albanian museums.

Museums in Berat, Durres, Fier, Gjirokastra, Korca, Kruja, Saranda, Shkodra, Tirana, Vlora and Voskopoja can be explored from your computer or device, with specific explanations.

Tirana, the capital city, is home to several museums: a huge bunker used by the communist government as shelter of last resort in a time of war has been turned into museum; a once infamous house covered with leaves was the one-time spy HQ from where hundreds of thousands of Albanians were persecuted during the dictatorship; it has been turned into a museum, the House of Leaves, and houses thousands of files and espionage devices; the National Museum, the largest in the country, hosts objects and stories from pre-historic times up until the period of communism, with photos, videos and stories from one of the longest-lasting and most repressive regime in Europe.
