Wizz Air to add two more routes from Tirana in 2024

Low cost airline Wizz Air will have two more additional routes to and from Tirana this year. The first one is Valencia, Spain, starting in June 2024, every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Tickets are out now starting with the first flight on June 6, 2024. The other route is Leipzig from September this year, with flights every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Tickets are out now starting with the first flight on September 30, 2024

This is part of airline’s expansion plan. Two new routes will raise the number of airline’s planes based in Tirana to 13. It announced an investment of over €200 million in the market in 2024.

In 2023, Wizz Air transported 4,6 million passengers to and from Albania, a 49% in comparison with 2022. At the moment there are 11 based aircraft at Tirana International Airport. The airline operated 25000 flights, a 56% increase in comparison with 2022.

In 2023 Albania achieved its best tourism performance in history, welcoming over 10 million foreign nationals, an increase of 28.5% compared to 2022. There was a significant interest from Spanish, Italian, Dutch and Turkish visitors, who went to the coastal areas, the primary focus for tourists. Almost half of them chose to came to Albania by Wizz Air.

Wizz Air started flying to Tirana in 2017. At the moment it has more than 50 routes connecting Albania with 16 countries. There are 24 unique routes, including 18 connections to Italy.
