Lagardère Travel Retail has opened a 100sq m duty free store at the Port of Durrës. It is managed by Lagardère Travel Retail Albania, a joint venture between Lagardère Travel Retail and Kastrati Group.
The opening builds on the inauguration of Lagardère Travel Retail’s operations at Tirana International Airport in January. The company said the expansion demonstrates its commitment to the fast-growing Albanian tourism market.
Located in the transit area of the port just after the border crossing checkpoint, the store offers tobacco, liquor, perfumes and cosmetics plus other categories. The assortment features international brands tailored to the profile of ferry passengers traveling between Albania and Italy, as well as Albanian specialities such as raki, wine, confectionery and destination goods.
Serving nearly one million passengers per year, the Port of Durrës is Albania’s busiest port and a key gateway for tourists and locals. The Durrës region is renowned for its beautiful coastline and growing tourism appeal.
The inauguration ceremony took place in the presence of Catherine Suard, Ambassador of France to Albania, and Kreshnik Bajraktari, General Director of the Port of Durrës, who joined Lagardère Travel Retail Albania CEO Stanislav Beranek for the ribbon-cutting. Lagardère Travel Retail Albania also expressed its gratitude to Albanian Ferry Terminal Operator Administrator Simon Harm for his support with the opening.
Stanislav Beranek commented: “The opening of our new duty free store at the Port of Durrës represents an exciting new step for Lagardère Travel Retail in Albania. Following our successful start at Tirana International Airport, we are proud to extend our partnership with Kastrati Group and to bring our retail expertise to one of the country’s most strategic travel gateways. We look forward to serving passengers at Durrës with a modern, welcoming shopping experience that reflects both international standards and local authenticity.”
