Bylis introduces Albania at the Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism

The Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism has officially commenced in Paestum, Italy. It is recognized as a significant international event integrating archaeology, tourism, and modern technology. It marks Albania’s first participation. The country is represented by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sports. This is in partnership with the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) Tirana.

In this 27th edition of the event, Albania is presenting the project of the National Archaeological Park of Bylis.

Bylis Archeological Park is perched on the hills above the Vjosa lagoon. It is one of the most impressive and historically rich sites in Albania. Once a thriving Illyrian city, Bylis provides visitors a rare glimpse into centuries of architectural brilliance. It showcases cultural development and natural beauty, all in one destination.

Whether you’re a history lover, a curious traveler, or an adventurer seeking hidden gems, Bylis will leave you in awe. Its ancient theater, temples, and basilicas are breathtaking. You will also enjoy panoramic views over southern Albania.

The Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism (BMTA) is the only event in the world dedicated exclusively to archaeological tourism. It brings together experts, institutions, tour operators, and companies. They share ideas, projects, and new partnerships. The event also creates business opportunities for industry professionals.

The event is promoted by the Campania region and the Archaeological Parks of Paestum and Velia.

Its goal is to improve archaeological parks and museums. It aims to promote archaeological tourism destinations and encourage marketing initiatives. The goal is also to extend the tourist season. Additionally, the aim is to increase economic opportunities and employment effects.

Special attention is devoted to the use of innovative technologies to create a more immersive experience in archaeology and museums. Through the ArcheoVirtual program, the Mediterranean Exchange of Archaeological Tourism will showcase multimedia exhibitions. It will also show digital solutions that are transforming the way we experience cultural heritage.
