Tourists in Albania

Foreign tourists spent €2.1 billion in Albania in first half of 2025

Tourism continues to drive Albania’s economy. The number of foreign visitors grows every year.

The Bank of Albania released new data. In the first six months of 2025, foreign tourists spent about €2.1 billion in Albania. Spending grew by 7.7% compared to the same period in 2024.

Tourist spending brings direct income to the Albanian economy. It strengthens tourism as one of the country’s main growth sectors.

INSTAT reported additional figures. Albania welcomed 4.7 million foreign citizens in the first half of 2025. This marks an increase of about 5% compared to a year earlier.

Visitors choose Albania for many reasons. They come for beaches and a favorable climate. They also enjoy mountain landscapes, historic cities, cultural heritage, hospitality, and traditional cuisine.

Albanians also spent more abroad. The Bank of Albania’s “Balance of Payments” shows they spent €1.3 billion on travel in the first six months of 2025. That is 7.5% higher than a year before.

Even so, the travel balance remains positive. Foreign tourists spent €800 million more in Albania than Albanians spent abroad. This highlights the export power of the tourism sector.

Today, tourism operates year-round. It generates significant revenue. At the same time, it promotes Albania as a sustainable and all-season destination.
