Roaming EU

Roaming tariffs between the Western Balkans and the EU will end in 2026

“Roaming tariffs between the Western Balkans and the EU will end in 2026”, Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama announced on Friday.

During the “Growth Plan, our path to the EU” summit in Tirana with the leaders of the Western Balkans and the European Union Enlargement Commissioner, Marta Kos, Rama said:

Now, with the finalization of the legal basis by the Commission, there is a program that will end the fees. It will be our next success after SEPA. Roaming is about removing another artificial border. One identity, one access, one digital life across the EU. In 2027 we will be there waiting for the EU. Border crossings, from obstacles to engines of development. We have agreed on 16 priorities for border crossings.”

The European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced in October 2025 the abolition of roaming charges for mobile communications between Albania (and Western Balkans) and the European Union next year.

Since 2023, with the mediation of the European Commission, 38 mobile service operators from the EU and the Western Balkans region reached an agreement to reduce internet roaming fees.
